It is the best cheapest solution.
I'd be getting a tripple display graphic accelerator card instead though. I'm not sure how this box performance goes. I also think you need a good card that can display large resulotion graphics - without performance problems.

Video cards are still available in PCI format, and pretty cheap usually. You could get a dual monitor AGP video card, & then a PCI video card as well. I've done it before (although, sometimes you run into issues with your BIOS, like it wanting to use the PCI card first as the preferred video card). It's a much cheaper alternative.
Any small KVM switch will allow you to connect a single monitor, keyboard, and mouse to 2 machines @ once & switch back & forth.
Other software alternatives invluce:
Synergy - a software KVM switch, without the M option, meaning each machine has a monitor, but only one keyboard & mouse is used to control them all. Works over TCP/IP networking.
Multiplicity - same as Synergy
MaxVista - Allows a monitor connected to a 2nd PC to function as if it was a 2nd monitor on your 1st PC. Also works over TCP/IP networking.

No, your radeon 9200 only supports 2 seperate outputs, and so you will get no more than 2 screens. You have to buy more hardware to get the 3rd screen going.
Sorry mate, but you'll have to cough up some $$$.

I use three monitors and my set up is this :
Mobo Asus A8N-VM CSM GeForce 6150 + nForce 430
XFX GeForce 6200 256MB PCI-e(Dual Vga)
The mobo has onboard dvi and vga output, and can be used at the same time with another video card. So i use the mobo's vga out for the main monitor and the other two are connected to the PCI-e video card. UltraMon Software is very usefull and i'd say almost necessary if you want to set up properly a three monitor system.
Before setting this i was looking for all the other available options from Matrox and others, but there were considerably expensive and with limited resolution. Now in my setup i can use the maximum resolution on each of the 3 monitors i have, which is 1680 x 1050(BenQ FP202W 20" Wide Screen). The most important in a multi monitor set up is to be able to use the maximum resolution of the monitors. Most of the products they have limitations on this area, especially when it comes on the 3rd monitor, while others just stretch the image on all three monitors giving a total resolution of 3840 x 1024(1280 x 1024 on each monitor). |

Yes, a good point, you want to get all the monitors at the same resolution, and preferrably, the same size, as it gets a little odd working with different screen sizes & resolution.
