Most of the times when I work on a project, usually my Cubase works are big, around 60-150 tracks. When I click on save, it takes about 3-5 minutes until it saves the project.

Does it happens to you as well?

I got an:
Athlon 64X2 4800+ dual core, SATA drive 250GB
and 1GB of Corsair CL 2.5 Ram.

That's a long time.

But... 150 tracks? What? How do you even find things in the mixer?           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

Yes 100 tracks average.

Well, Im using folders and groups and colors, that helps, and, you just have to know the track, listen to the parts and it is easy to find out what to mix like that.

Do you clean the pool and clean the project from unnecessary things?

are all samples located at the same direction.. and like somebody said, do you use a vst that eats alot of memory and cpu? like sampletank/kontakt and others alike..

i dunno but these things might do a difference..
but for sure there is alot of tracks you work with so its not strange that it takes some time..

100 tracks seems to be alot to work with
i cant even keep a hold of 20 tracks.. hehe

3 to 5 minutes save time ?
Dude a 30 mb excel file don't need that much ...

I save almost every minute and save time doesn't last longer than 5 secs no matter how many tracks are in there (using FL btw).

Good luck with it !

I'm not a Cubase-user, and it's not necessarily going to solve anything - but it wouldn't hurt anything to add a bit more RAM to your PC.

I think even turned-off vsts that are kept in the rack take a lot of time to save so I tend to remove them if possible.

sometimes this happens in cubase.... usually if you use the save to new folder option and clean unneccasery files it helps... if it doesn`t than something is definetly wrong .           if u dig deep enough u just might reach the sky...

i tried this in my old DAW with around 60-70 tracks and tons of effects on both vst and audio tracks. it was on an 1.8ghz P4 with 1 gb ram, and saving the project took around 1 minute. then it got overclocked @ 2.4 i think (the CPU), then it went a little faster saving.

But 3-5 minutes, damn. i would also try add RAM and maybe defrag your drives if you havent done that for long time.           myspace.com/auralinvasion
