Profile of Phony Orphants
Phony Orphants: Jeppe Ørnkilde (Dj jeppe) and Mikael Dahlgaard (Dj Emok) meet each other after a high school trip with intensive music courses around 10 years ago, quickly they got hang of the electronic music development there was going on in Denmark, and started to do parties them self’s. After a while it was clear that they had to take their skills to the studio, so in 98 the Iboga studio got formed in Copenhagen and soon after the boys had their first releases coming out on various labels such as Transient, Aries, Plastic Park, Nanobeat and Plusquam. Phony Orphants are producing tracks, which ranges from psychedelic to progressive and into techno and house… During 2002 they have been working on their first album for Iboga Records, and after much anticipation “Symphony” which was released in the spring 2003. An extensive tour followed to promote the album, which took the boys around the world to big festivals and parties like Voov in Germany, the Outback eclipse in Australia, Utage in Japan and the Equinox in Mexico to name just a few.
Since the album the Orphants have been working with various artist like Antix & True to nature to get inspiration and to learn new ways of putting storming tracks together…Now the boys are working on the 2nd album which will be released in the end of 04 start 05 and it sure sounds promising… there will be some sneak preview of tracks on the site so stay tuned if you want a taste of what’s to come.
Emok's dj profile
Mikael Dahlgaard, 1/2 of Iboga Records, started his DJ carrier in the last century, playing sets of psychedelic trance and organizing small underground parties around Copenhagen. Emok plays sets varying from minimal techno to more full on progressive psy trance. In 1997 he and DJ Banel from Copenhagen thought up the idea of a Scandinavian record label this resulted in the first Danish trance compilation “Tabernanthe” on the new label; Iboga Records.
Emok started producing electronic music himself, and today he works in the fully equipped Iboga studio, on the projects "Phony Orphants" and his solo project as "Emok". Besides this Emok is involved in a collaboration with DJ Jokke.
He has previously also been involved in several side projects like Spy Vs Spy together with Dj Llopis and "Fabel" with the other Iboga usuals.
Emok plays a very unique sound and style in his DJ sets. A selection of the best, newest and most well produced tracks from the Scandinavian trance scene mixed in a very powerful progressive way.
Profile of Stefan aka. Steve Active
Stefan Keller is a late 70s child, born on June 10th 1978. He had his formative musical years between 1995 and 2000 where he immersed himself into the exciting wave of partying and was able to gather practical experiences and insights into the Swiss party scene.
In 1998 he also began to experiment with creating his own sounds in a studio.
He has produced over 40 releases since 2000 which were released under the name of PASTE (abb. Patrick S. and Stefan K.). The response was strong, leading to engagements in Tokio, Rio, Sao Paulo, Mexico, Lisbon, Paris, Bologne, Manchester, Tel Aviv, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Copenhagen etc.
His acquired taste and assured experience as a DJ (live act-or) and producer allows him to take his listeners on a experiential journey into the universe of electronic music. The dominant musical thrust in his repetoire is the progressive style, yet is infused and enriched with progressive beats, electric grooves, Tribal and Techno elements. The fusion of these parts is the very alchemy that individualises Stefan Keller’s unique style. |
