Brilliant Party! One of the most fun times Ive had yet! Great camping scene, good people, vibes, etc. The music had a lil flavor for everyone which was killer. Dog of Tears has a strange funk that began the trip into hyperspace and DJ Iguana absolutely took me thru helixes and spirals in the cosmos. Mind blowing would not be enough to classify that scene. That music was perfect down to some really small super string level.

Aerosis: amazing! Goa sound was so soothing indeed. Uplifting.

Konflux: Mad Funk. He is truly talented. I am a huge fan. I am honored he (and Dai) played at my house some time ago. Live set was killer, minus a few setbacks with the mixer (or cd players?)

Bravo Psytribe. Only bust was having to walk soooooo far just to get to the main stage....oh well. Walking is something we talk for granted I suppose.

I had a blast. Thanks to everybody who made it out.

I met a lot of new faces there, made some new friends, and discovered new music.

Whoever was playing on the Alternative Stage 5-7AM on Saturday morning; that was AWESOME music. This party made me realize how much I really do love chillout... time to start stockpiling new music.

I caught bits and pieces of other sets, but found myself getting distracted with other festivities (and responsibilities) around camp; so I didn't sit through too many ENTIRE sets.

Thank you to EVERYBODY who played on BOTH stages, you are all close to my heart. A few other experiences do come to mind...

Saturnia... GREAT music. I love how you dropped some uplifting melodic tracks along with dirty sounding tech minimal stuff, and even some electro. The combination was KILLER, and perfect for dancing in the early afternoon.

Konflux/Vasily - As always, great stuff. I caught bits and pieces of your set. It seemed more twisted and night oriented than other times I've heard your Live Sets. But it was very high quality for the time slot. As always, very COMPLEX and GROOVY tracks; definitely got me dancing.

Poli - I was super excited to see you play. Due to some issues back at the car (losing my keys) I was only able to hangout for maybe 30 minutes of your set. But those few were GOLD. Before it started to downpour, dancing to the drizzling rain to your set was one of my favorite parts of the party. (I have to admit musical style bias here). The sound system really did the tracks justice.

Aerosis - I liked your stuff. It was really nice at the timeslot, and different from other stuff I've heard. You have talent, and I expect great things.

Planet Telex - I really liked your chill set too. In all honesty, I wasn't sure who was playing while I was over there, but if I think about the times in my head and look at the timeslots, I was definitely over there while you played.

And to the organizers, everybody involved, the La Jolla Band of Indians and Reservation, to Felix the Security Guard, and the awesome Tribal Security guy (I forget his name ), THANKS!

Unbelievable....
Thank you so much for every one that brought this event to us. This was truly a remarkable event.

Sound was just PERFECT! - i don't know if we'll ever be able to stand a different system from now on....

i'm simply lost for words, every set i listened to just hit spot on, and the whole flow of the lineup was very entertaining, hitting the right times with the right music.

the way this party season started off in such a great fashion i'm looking forward to see it develop even more...

great respect and thanks to everyone that put this together, PSYTRIBE, Xexify and Mindful.

This event was truly spectacular. I've been following Dave's progress as a producer over the years and knew that his set on Sat. morning would blow people away. It was thrilling to see so much dancing to such dark and creative music, especially after last year's backlash.

The Funktion One was a sonic blessing. Mad props to the orgs for securing that one. I hope to experience more socal events of that caliber.

For those of you who heard my set in the afternoon, you can probably imagine that the main stage at a trance party is an unusual venue for that sort of thing. The normal setting is usually some unlit art gallery with crappy sound in downtown or somesuch. At heart, however, I have been a trancer for a long time and always tend towards the psychedelic aspect of sound. To have the opportunity to clear the dancefloor at the end of a glorious day of outdoor partying is a dream come true. Much thanks to Dave, et al, for the slot, and on the perfect sound system, no less.

I thoroughly enjoyed Gabriel and Earthbag's set and was saddened that I had to be the one to put a stop to such uplifting sounds. On the other hand, I expected the change to complete and utter chillness permeating the campsite to be welcome as people scattered and regrouped for the following night of insanity. I did not appreciate the complaints from some of the people on the floor, it was very rude and immature. The lineup was constructed to tell a story--this was the design of the promoters. I put my heart and soul into my particular form of music and think I do a pretty damn good job of playing it all live, from scratch, with my precious hand made instruments. My personal suggestion: If you want to complain about the music, please do not go into the DJ booth to do it. Let an artist express himself and snap about it all you like afterwards. Nevertheless, the initial scoffing from a small subset of the crowd was short-lived, and the positive reactions I received from those who could jive with a different kind of sound truly warmed my heart. Perhaps drones are better suited for the chill-stage, but if I am ever asked to close a main system again, I will do it, no questions asked

for those interested, I will be playing in Dave's "Dog of Tears Orchestra" and my other project "The Sweat Shop Boys" at Beyond Baroque in Venice on April 18th.

Adam I thought that your live was perfect music and time wise. Really enjoyed it while cooking. It was great. The beasts that you are talking about are drug heads don't even take it into your head.

Man, this party was absolutely awesome! We get there at 5 pm on Friday, the weather is great, the vibe is sooooo good. The time went by so fast. Hanging by the campfire and chilling with friends. The best!

I honestly can't believe after looking at all the after-party posts that nobody mentioned the sets by Rastaliens and Braincell! Oh my god, are you people crazy? I have been listening to psytrance/goa for over 10 years now and when somebody mentions Rastaliens, I am down for listening to them. The have been around for so long and they have always had, what I think is a unique sound. When Andy told me he was bringing them, I thought "Yes!". Old school guys that are still rocking our world! Yes, they are german, but we can forgive them for that. (inside joke for those that get it).
Their set was the only set that I listened the whole time from beginning to end. They rocked. In fact, I don't think I have seen Spyros dance that much at a party...ever! Really nice one guys!
I had the chance to talk with them and you will not find two more down to earth guys. Absolutely full of love and kindness! This is why they are still around after soooo many years. Love and kindness, man!           Give the prog a chance. It will grab your soul.

Great party... and something that i myself needed very much. It was nice to back around so many old faces and some new ones, and even though ive been gone for a bit, in some ways it was like i never left...

Got there around midnight on friday... cant say much of the music the 1st night did much for me, but hey thats me... Im still glowing after this weekend so i wont rain on anyone else's parade. (yes the pun is intended)

Randoms set in the morning on sat was the highlight of that 1st morning for me. One of the best sets I've ever heard from him, and I've been listening to that guy play for years and years.
I missed all the afternoon prog though as i went and napped thru the afternoon.
I enjoyed Aerosis, the sunset goa worked well.
I myself was a little worried coming on after them, since i was going to take things down to a much slower minimal level, but it actually seemed to work ok.
I dug Kiva's new sound, though you can tell hes been hanging a lot with Konflux.

As for the headliners....
Digital Talk was somewhat flat for me. I used to love them, but i guess i see why we havnt heard too much from them in recent years. Not much new material. Guess they are both more focusing on their solo projects

Rasta / Braincell.... HOLY CRAP ! Ive seen both of them several times, and every time they have been good, but not THAT good. DAMN. This new variation they have gone in with the "new goa" sound works great. Hard hitting, deep modern bass lines with old style melodies... Just a perfect performance.

Poli, well I've been hanging with this guy on and off for a few weeks and hes a solid, decent dude. I was looking fwd to hearing him play. We've talked shop and DJ'n and i wanted to see what he would do. Guys got the skills for sure. Too bad the rain had to show up then and put a damper on things...

...though in the end, even though we got cut short, i think the overall level of quality up to that point left everyone feeling pretty satisfied..

Funktion 1 ... double thumbs up !!!

the one complaint... more light sources on the dance floor. It was next to impossible to find your friends at night with out shining a flash light on someones face

Very fun times indeed.

Had good times with friends, new friends, and even had an old friend coming from Chicago whom I haven't been to a party in 3 years (we used to go together all the time).

I loved the music overall. First night wasn't that good I will have to agree. I did fount it very weird that the crowd at the first night and the second night was very different. I guess it makes sense with the two different organizations. But I felt the party would have benefited if the people would mix more. It felt like I was at two different parties.

I loved the new food bazaar it added to the overall taste. Two things we need to add I think is:

WORKSHOPS

I do feel that we as the main components of the scene have to start teaching each other the skills that we know. And adding workshops will give us a "Festival" feeling. Knowledge is power and we can grow as individuals. By the way I dont mind coordinating and I have some skills I think that I can teach others. Workshops can be Yoga, Drum teachings, Fire spinning, Massages, Story telling our community has endless stuff to teach so I think it would be great to add next time. O by the way Lawrence if you are reading this it would be great if Gemini had some this year.

Second is We have to add puffs mattresses or any thing you guys think to the Chill Out. I am sure people would love to hang out there more if there.

Music was great all around but I thought that Braincell (live) was a truly magnificent. Psychedelic sounds crunchy bass lines Ol' Good Psytrance indeed. Proper music, it had all the elements for the perfect Sunrise set like the good times.

Aerosis was great Goa is not dead it was great to hear it.

Paradigm I thought played good prog-minimal set at the end switching to faster stuff.

Had fun till next time.

This was by far the most fun i've had organizing a party. Thanks to everyone involved and everyone who came. Spyros, you are truly amazing.

I understood that people would have varied opinions of the first night vs. the second, and I think that's fine. Our idea was to throw a party that any trancer could enjoy. The DJ's and artists who played for the first night collaborated to deliver a cohesive story through out the night and day. Naked Tourist's set was an excellent bridgeway into the day and he is always presenting us with new sounds! By the way his personal favorite set of the party was Asom's beautiful drones, and I think the over all effect of Adam's set was appreciated and understood. I encountered numerous people who enjoyed his set thoroughly. I would not hesitate to book him again for the main stage. My only annoyance was that he didn't get to play into silence as was planned, someone just had to go up there and start dropping beats again... oh well.

I very especially appreciate all the kind words and insane dancing that many people delivered for my set... it seemed like a near opposite reaction to last year's 3 am spring equinox set.

As for the second day, I was sad that I desperately needed sleep after a 30 hour long haul of fullpowernoshower, but I did manage to wake up and catch at least ten minutes of everyone's set... DJ's like Vasily and Spyros had me awake in my tent for upwards of 20 minutes with their great music, and Rastaliens was what actually got me out of the tent and back on the dancefloor-- holy shit! It was like full-on from the early 2000's. I honestly haven't heard full on of this quality, funk, and psychedelia in years. Plus those two guys are super cool. And the production quality of their music goes an incredibly long way on that Funktion1 sound system. I could only hope to produce music as utterly crisp, clean, and precise as theirs one day, regardless of the style of trance.

I did find it strange that we were able to keep the dance floor nearly spotless on the first day, but for *some reason* it just got completely trashed the second day. Could we please band together for a cleaner dance floor in our community? When you see someone senselessly throw an ugly piece of matter on the ground, don't be afraid to go up to them and say something, or pick up after them right in front of them. Trashing the dancefloor is the opposite of trance music and culture. In California parties, it should not happen. It's karma like that that leads to rained out parties... seriously.

Other than that, this party was immaculate... it need not be mentioned that the sound was beyond reason. So again, thank you to everyone involved, i would rather not make an elaborate list of names, those who know, know. Big BOM Ohm Nama Shiva to all, see you in the desert...

I totally agree, couches and other places to sit and lay around in the chillout area would have been PROPER. I still spent a decent amount of time there. But I think to really fulfill the "chillout" role at the party it should have seating. Although since it was an 'Alternative Stage' I suppose it was unnecessary.

Though I'm sure if somebody has a truck, you could hop on craigslist and find tons of couches in the "FREE STUFF" section that people have sent to the curb.           http://www.soundcloud.com/djKAHN

Ok so I forgot to mention the rasta scene. I set my alarm for 7am on sun, so I did get to catch some of their (DJ?) set. And it was def as good as everyone said it was. It was a great sound for the morning. Great to dance to. I just wish I wasn't so tired.

The first nights music , imo, was genius. Different strokes for different folks! We all collectively got to enjoy great music, despite our individual tastes.

I agree about the need to have more lighting and/or glowing deco on the main stages, ala gemini 2008.
The chillout stage should def have some couches and stuff to make it more of a haven, again, like gemini 2008.

Not too much to complain about though. One positive I forgot to bring up earlier was the organization of the party. I thought it was very well organized. ^_^

Such a great party! Asom I really loved the ambient you were brewing, its a nice way to wind down the energy of the day time without a pounding kick drum, I'm very sorry you had some hecklers, since I love the idea of winding down the main stage, as you said it tells a story and it builds suspense into the nighttime sets, so its good on all sides. The only downer is the patience of certain people who don't want to appreciate a breather to socialize and chill, as if an entire 24 hours was not enough time to rock.

I once again enjoyed myself thoroughly with the chill stage, I like the secludedness and the intimacy and the great variety of music at all times of night, the UV goa deco had a really nice effect. But very few people were there and I wish some of those DJs would have gotten more attention. Indeed, it was a chillout stage with no where to chill, I'm all for a mass of soft things (bodies or otherwise) piled somewhere close to a chill out stage, it makes people hang out and alleviates the symptoms of full-power camper's back.

WORKSHOPS

I 1,000% agree with Psyman, we don't do these here.. when I played out in the midwest (chilluminati duders), they stopped the chillout stage for one of the days and held workshops there. It started sparse with just 3 people in deep discussion but gradually grew into a crowd. There was a lot of unbroken ice and you could tell everyone was new at this but what was great was the community it spawned, there wasn't strict order or preachers or ramblers or anything like that but more along the lines of a mass of people holding deep discussions and ponderings, and any people willing to share knoweldge on their crafts (arts, music production)... did so there and made friends/connections in the process.

It was so easy to do, it just involved people wanting to come together and do a little talking in a circle and share something to the community, the idea is superb, I highly encourage anyone interested in this to start voicing their opinions and maybe we can reap the results at a future multi-day out here.

But back to recuperating this weekend's events... The party was a blast, and the musical variety worked wonders on peoples energy and stamina, saturday night had so much activity and huddles of fun wafting (stumbling) around the camp grounds, and the music was right on the spot. My only nitpick is that something seems to have happened to morning psytrance, then again I missed both sunrises so I don't know if anyone played any to wind down the full-on, so someone can clear me up if I'm mistaken.

I'm very happy about the once again overwhelmingly good response on the newschool goa, I'm so happy that I want to put a request out to the universe that I'm not the only goa DJ at future events. The music is deep, psychedelic, rainbow colored in variety and is in my opinion among the finest to tell a story and develop a vibe to set up the deeper trance experiences of the night, or for that matter whenever. I'm still itching to play a morning set, a deep night set, and a wacky suomi/expiramental set, there is no shortage of music on my end
I'll likely put together my set into an mp3 for you guys to hear if you missed it or simply want to hear this music again. Its the newness I want to emphasize, I'm not playing tracks from 98 and 99 but rather 2008 and 2009, a lot of people are making this sound again (I ended with a track from The Zap!), and I'm happy to see people spotting it in Braincell's music, who is among my favorite full-on acts for the fact that he plays up the trance and turns down the cheese.

Earthbag and Gabriel rocked it too, at 128bpm . Variety does cool stuff to peoples state of mind, music is by nature an experience of travelling, it needs to go places, and this time it really did Everyone seems to have found something to be very satisfied about. Oh except Celeste, but thats a given

Random! How did I miss saying hi to you?? Doh
