has everyone gone 24 bit on their sound cards? i am still in 16 bit and my friends brought his 24 bit over and WOW perfect levels and clean sounds just like they came in. it was a Delta something card. so what is there to do if i am still 16 bit. what are good tips to EQ each tracks to boost my sounds? i use logic audio and the new acid so i can add effects without needing external FX and racks right now. |

eventually it is all recorded on a CD and it's 16 bit and 44100 herz, so don't feel so lowlife. surely 24 bit recording is more accurate and quality is easier to achieve.... but 16 bit is not bad at all. i tell you all this cause i'm still on 16 bits :-) if i could i'd build a really good studio at home... but i still don't have enough money for all that.... i'll have to wait a little.
:-) anyway try using compressors, if you want to avoid unwanted distortions. but don't use compressor on the entire track.

Well the point in having 24/96 is that you do all of your editing and recording and stuff on it, and only in the end reduce it to 16/44.1, it will sound much much better. |

It dosent metter what you sound card can make 8/16/24/32 bit because at the end of the procces you will burn you music on a CD and the burning software will compress you files to 16/44.1 so the compression will fuck you files quality anyway! |

But it's still always good to do the processing at the highest quality. Just like in graphics, even if you're doing web graphics I'm sure the original is a mega-pixel multi-layer 32bit-color images.
