guys, there is no need for nothing to split...things are split as they are.
I like almost all genre´s of psytrance... i think many people can find good tracks in all styles...

commercialism is what it is, and what once was underground and hard for the mass to understand gets a mass appeal if it finds a crowd... and so this cycle goes around, and if its new or old or a fusion or whatever dosent really matter, cause even one new element is something new.

for example, i did not know that its a trend to rap fast over drum&bass(DnB) in england, and probably other countries aswell... i believe they are speeded as hell aswell to rap in 170bpm

somebody might have known that it was going to happen, but how could they know? probably cause they heard it underground.

how can Boobytrip know a big batch of pure hyper-acid will hit the streets in may? well maybe cause he is working on some "pure hyper-acid" music, or he heard it at a friend or he feels somekind of cosmic vibe

so whatever you want to see coming you should do your self!

and about production standards, well of course more and more dedicated psytrance artists collects new gear and learn new stuff so production often gets better. though we can never escape from the fact that a good track is a good track, no matter where its made, in a pro studio or recorded with a minidisc..

and think about it, artists that takes the commercial route often ends up making music where money is to be made.. at least if they are smart. still IM has been involved with the psyscene for a long time and they are true to it in their way(psytrance is a very wide in terms of sound), cause they could have left it and made money out of other things, but i guess they really like the concept of being able to incorporate lots of different music styles.. IM is more of an electro act that is doing lots of stuff.. i would not judge them for that, i would praise them for it...

what makes psy stagnate is people who only makes one kind of music and are fanatic about it... they live on their old releases and try to do everything to get that feeling back... or someting like that

now we know most artists do lots of different kinds of music, but often we olny hear a small part of it, its a art to know what people would like to hear...
comon sense tells me that if its something you would like to hear then i bet there are others aswell...

Praise music!

the sets are solid today, there will be a trend leading more into dynamic and liquid tracks/sets. this means that fullon-elements will be freshed up with soft and slow parts. dj have to find the wave again. like a deep breath of a very slow vibration. anyway top productions will try to be formless and more intelligent in the way of arrangement and morphing parts more naturally.
yes, i think this could a way to go...

e-motion if eskimo is your favourite artists obviously you're going to be a bit biased towards him, but I was just using him as an example of a particular style of full on (one where you hear the exact same kick and bassline patch in every track on a CD) that will begin to sound dated compared to the likes of infected or sub 6..

I think people can't ignore the fact that there is a side of "psy", or at least artists who grew up in the psy scene, who are now reaching a much larger audience. The scene as a whole may not be growing, but there are a few artists who undoubtly are getting pretty damn big (infected and crystal method?).

Also, when I talk about a split, I'm not neccesarilly just relegating it to commercial trance on one side and dark on the other, but more of a "commercial vs underground" sort of thing. I just think that dark might be the new "underground" music, it already is really I suppose. Only now the commercial viability of stale full on will start to fail.

On the other hand, maybe the electro psy cross over like Beckers will start to flood the scene too, who knows.

you will all call me a bullshitter, an idiot, stuck up, or what you want....

but i have developed a new style of organic, nearly living, evolving , psychedelic music, very, very diffrent from anything i have heard yet.

I make it in my spare time between working on breakbeat tracks.

If anyone would like to get a free mp3 of something really, really weird, send me an AIM to this screen name           G+ - Army Collective - Kontakt Recordings

New Era Scientist,i dont think that artists following one style, their style, are living on it and trying to get that feeling again.
for me it shows integrity..at least some people do what they want to do and not what others want to hear.and i m talking about artists of any kind any music!
i would prefer an artist making dark(i dont listen to it atall)than an artist making dark in the first cd,electro-trance in the 2nd and who knows what in the next.

all these apart from the music itself which may be brilliant!

but i wouldnt praise artists that act"chameleonish"and change style according to the seasons trend!

I think dark psy will go the way of full-on (much too much mediocre music, very little bad releases, and some good releases), that full-on will continue it's way into the commercial circuit (which is not a bad thing as long as there still are some original artists with the guts to try something different) with horrible remixes of very known songs and songs based on the "access virus full-on preset library" I think suomi will explode and become much more popular with a much wider audience. And that there will be lot's of non-finnish artists starting with this genre. Breaks will grow and the percussion will hopefully start sounding as good as in other break genres. Psy will be mixed an mached more and more with other genres and other genres will have more and more typical psy techniques.

What about artists that change style in order to create their own trends? (ie x-dream)

The fluffy progressive will take over the full on in the morning. I predict artists like Astrix and other Hommega artists going progressive and leading all the other copycats into the same direction. The dark psy gets darker.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

I don't think there's a NEED to separate and classify music, these are mostly subjective analysis.

IMO the commercial side will keep growing together with the commercial parties, it's up to us to choose the music we want to listen too. I hope the underground parties de-attach from the commercial and grow slow but steady.

People have been saying this for several years now, and now i quite frankly doubt it'll happen. In the psytrance scene I don't think breaks will ever be as popular as 4/4 stuff.          DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

the psychelic sound (i mean artists released on parvati or labels like that) ll explose ,why? cause in this style it s not the production it s the music before, so you have lot of new comers with fresh idea , not always the same shit and clone
