Ive been thinking bout this...you know how there are sounds that you hear in trax which make you go "what the fuck is that!" and screw your face up...this is psychadelic. But then what can be equally psychadelic imo is the actual musical ideas put into the track. I find the sheer musical brilliance of the ideas in a track can totally blow my mind to the same degree as a wacked out sound. But then if this is the criteria for psychadelic, wouldnt fusion/jazz be the most psychadelic genre of music due to its intense musicality? Hmmm...so i guess in conlusion to my crapping on, a good trance track will have a combination of both!

This is why it's called psychedelic trance, so you can distinguish it from other psychedelic genres.

personally i prefer the second type of psychedelic in your definition.
and i don't think a combination of both types is rare or something that hasn't been done before! (can't think of a specific track right now but i'm sure that one of the major artists pulled it through once or twice)           REHAB is for quitters

Well, I believe that there are two ways to express psychedelia. Via chaos (Texas Faggot as an example) and via order (Shiva Chandra, on the exact opposite side). You can go anywhere between the two, according to your taste. I prefer mine more ordered and less chaotic, just because of the noise factor and lack of follow through that usually come with chaotic music.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222
