hi all,i'm in need of advices regarding the best way to save cpu power, i understand that the sends work great , but a friend of mine told something about running cubase on the background?!do u know anything about it?
the other question has to do with when moving from a computer to another one the sounds come out right but,for example in albino , if it's not running it's own presets it appears empty ,with no bank loaded, can u tell how u go around it?
thanx for your time,take care

hi, i'm no master but i'll try too help...i have the cpu problem also 512 memory 2ghz processor and a full up HD, my main strategie to save the CPU when it cranks after 2/3 vst is too turn of all FX(delays reverbs,...,... after tunning them) you can also export to audio and apply FX and sends then, about that albino problem don't know what that is? did you save your preset?           does the signature for me ---www.acidplanet.com/hypnosense

hehe... of course you have to save the same preset on the other computer
or rebuild it there, if you know all the parameter settings (could get a bit difficult in albino )
if you have 2 computers you can connect them via optical cabel. on one u run cubase as allways and on the other one you can run Steinber V-stack, wich handels the VSTs... that whole setup is called 'VST Systemlink'... but dont ask me about how it works in detail, as I dont know...           we save the world I say...
...and am laughed at. but if we all would say, we already would have done.

bounce often.

try silverspike tapeit2 for advanced bouncing. (several tracks bounced in one go to individual waves.)

fx teleport and wormhole are two alternatives to vst systemlink. I personally have very good results with fx teleport. you probably find something about both your questions on kvr.

also check out the linplug forum on kvr, I'm almost sure I've seen the same problem with preset import somewhere.           soundcloud.com/epsylohm

Another question if i may?
Just finished my first cub track and when it got to the 255th bar it didn't let me go any further, luckely i was coolling it down towards the end but it's kinda boring if i can't make longer tracks,do u know how u solve that?
Thanx take care

the length of the track is depandent on your computer stats (mainly your virtual memory, but i think the space in your HD as well)
so as you can guess without an upgrade you wont be able to get that far. well, apart from bounce, bounce, bounce...

same developer as fx teleport, there is the fx freeze.
which allow you to freeze almust all fx when you dont change their settings.

bounce often is the best solution i think.
also visit that page.. i think its worth to have a look, especially if your not really a computer nerd...

Right-click My Computer and select Properties. Click on the Advanced tab, then Settings, then Advanced. Make sure your processor scheduling is set to Background Services. This is the single most-effective tweak for XP to make music applications run quicker.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

what i do and it worked is to force a midi ao audio sample(the bigger the better) and push it over 255th bar
//é uma das cenas k tb bati mal com o cubase
, entao pegas num midi aou sample de audio que esteja no sequenciador, quanto mais comprido melhor(spre podes criar um para não deslocares um que esteja a ser utilizado), e andas ali aos empurrões com esse midi no fim da faixa para além do 255... comigo resultou []           does the signature for me ---www.acidplanet.com/hypnosense

yup .. "bounce" means "export in audio file"
for example, i never have 3 discovery, 2 albino ... 4 %//*Q)/ .. and so on running at the same time.
event with a strong computer, its limited.. and when you have a good machine, you use to load it 3 times muchl... dunno why
so, make a lead, apply fx.. when you like it, export it on a new audio track, and if you like, keep the midi sequence and save the preset.
personaly, i save just few times the preset, and make something new.
if after a while i dont like anymore the preview job, i delete it or apply a 20 new fx on it which make a totaly new sound....
then same with lot of fx.. convert in audio file, remove the fx and so on.

if you wanna have many plugs playing at the same time, its more the job for "power core " and such things to look for.

and a last add, very simply thing, the freeze function of cubase directly, in the vsti manager (F11)

Is this because ASIO is considered a background task?           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

In addtion to the freeze function, you can simply turn off those instruments you are not using through the VST instruments window. The only downside is there will be no sound upon playback unless you have already bounced to audio.

Working with freeze is essential - I'm using an AMD 64 2.4 GHz and 1MB Dual Channel RAM and I have to start freezing and turning instruments off around 6 VSTI's with FX (CPU meter is usually around 50% at that point). Unfortunately for Cubase users, resources are also being used by the license protection application (I Think). Heard of ppl using the illegal copy with less strain on CPU. Don't know if that's just a rumor though.           ELECTRON EYES / MARK-EVAN (NOR. CAL)
