hi guys need some help here. i dont know if this is the right place or not 2 post this cuz this site is [somewhat] confusing.
anywya i need help. i want to know if i can have 1 pci card [audigy 2 plat. pro] [set to windows primary sound card] and a firewire audio interface as asio monitoring/mixing/making beats etc... and then just play games with the audigy 2. Now i have heard that windows will generally, not have a problem with the audigy 2 as master...but im not sure.
i am looking at a few firewire devices and am undecided. [alesis, m-audio]
i have audigy 2 platinum pro, routed sound to mackie firewire/analog mixer [works with no conflicts], genelec monitors and 2 peavy 46a mics, and 2 entire wall covered with egg cartons [interleavend] lol [works good TRY IT]
dont bash me 4 having audigy 2 cuz with my setup i can acheive an excellent sound. i just want better a/d converters thats all.
Ok/ thanx

This is not a problem.
It'll work just as you described.
About the firewire card, I would suggest something from RME. And about the egg cartons, I hope it looks good at least (cause its absorbtive coefficient is way low)...

Hi thanx for the fast reply! im looking into better acoustic foam, but im not sure what to buy, and one more question...
i have one homemade wooden monitor stand, for the left monitor, and because of space issues, and the fact that at the time i messed up and didn't compensated for room behind the walls, i just put the monitor on a wooden computer desk...now im thinking it may be causing a tiny amount of relections...
so how much do you recomend that i move the desks foward [from the wall] so i can put some acoustic absorbants in their behind the speakers, and put the right montitor on a stand/ |

I've been reading abit lately on room acoustics for home music making and there seems to be pretty varied opinions on how far to put the speakers away from the wall. Some people say right against it and others say anywhere from 12-24 inches.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but which wall are you putting the egg cartons on, behind the speakers or in front of the speakers?

you know you guys are very polite on this forum, [from what ive been reading] some forums i go to i get treated like..well you know...
I put the egg cartons behind the speakers. i thought it made some kind of difference, but maybe not.
now i have to save up for rme 400, [prolly] from what i read rme has awesome compatiblity and like no crashes, and i really dont care about sound quality all i care about is performance, and the audigy 2 is kinda lacking there and in the converters departnment

to glitch, thanx
what about disabling the audigy and onboard sound, doesn't that speed up your pc, rather than ripping apart the soundcard every time, [or maybe im confused/] |
