The response has been huge for this Saturday’s KINETIC event at the Pacific Science Center. Both this week’s Seattle Weekly and The Stranger (both came out 02.15.06) have made it the “pick” for Saturday Night! Here is what they wrote:

The Seattle Weekly...
Last summer's "Magnetic" event in the same unconventional location allowed you to pet sea urchins and watch butterflies shed their cocoons to the beat of pounding house music—and this year's lineup is twice as eclectic and solid: Atmos, DJ Heather, Lusine, Deru, Osiris Indriya, Nordic Soul, Ramiro and Jeromy Nail, Amanita, Jerry Abstract, Julie Herrera, Son of Rose, Kris Moon, and more appear. Pacific Science Center, 200 Second Ave. N., 9 p.m. $18 adv./$25 18+ [no author listed]

The Stranger...
How much audio-visual stimulation is too much? Kinetic will force you to answer that question. Nothing succeeds like excess, and the Decibel, Uniting Souls, and IOSIS crews have assembled a potent lineup to prove it. Feast on the gamut of electronic styles flaunted by Lusine, Deru, Nordic Soul, Son of Rose, Kris Moon, Atmos, Osiris Indriya, Jerry Abstract, Heather, and others. It’s like a week of beats crammed into one glorious night. (Pacific Science Center, 200 Second Ave N, 686-4622. 9pm, $18 adv/$25 DOS, 18+.) DAVE SEGAL

Thanks to those who wrote back to me after my last email. You were among the last to get your $5 off presale tickets (which are now gone). There are still plenty of regular presales available for $18. Tickets are $25 at the door.

last year this party was a serious joke. human blue was awesome but this location, as cool as it sounds and as cool as it might be, if Iosis uniting souls were to actually do anything as far as decorate, just isnt worth it. $25 to dance in an auditorium style room with no decor and white flouresent lights that arent even bothered to be turned off just made last years party really lame. I was one of no more than a dozen people who actually went to see human blue and watched his set. I hope this party is better than last years, i hope there is at least some decor and Atmos gets more than a dozen people to attend, but i will take a pass this time. dont be fooled by the fact thats its at the PSC.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good time. I can totally understand the comments about the lights. That is definitely something that is being addressed this time around. They have actually agreed to unscrew some of the light bulbs, turn off more lights inside and turn off some of the flood lights outside.

As for the decor, I'm not sure I understand. The Pacific Science Center is filled with all kinds of exhibits and decorations. IOSIS also had three different artists on display. I'd love to hear what you would have liked to see.

We really appreciate the feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve. Based on the feedback we're getting and the advanced ticket sales, I have no doubt that this show will be even better than the last.

Too bad... You missed well over 1200 people getting down to Atmos and the other talent on Sat night. The dance floor was PACKED and everyone was moving. One of the best indoor events I have ever been to. It was awesome and I have to say that Atmos is one of the kindest/coolest artists I have met so far.

Thanks yvette for shaping the night in so many ways. It was a big boost for Seattle and for me.

Wow... I'm still recovering. Kinetic was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and career. The diversity of music and people was fantastic. From 18 to mid-60s, I had people coming up to me from every age, race and creed. I have so many people to thank for making this such a success:

Osiris - From concept to implementation, you have been there, planning the event and then giving it life through your amazing flyer design and visual concepts. And to top it off, you played a killer set to pump the crowd for Atmos. As you manager, business partner and friend, I only have two things to say... You inspire me, thank you.

Brian (Amanita) - Every step of the way, you were there. Music selection, problem solving, decoration... and then you gave us all the biggest gift of all, you infused IOSIS with Daniel (erth) Mark's music. It was a magical set.

-I want to interject something very special here. Daniel's mom flew out at the last minute to attend Kinetic. For those of you that don't know, Daniel (erth) was scheduled to play the opening slot in the Insect Room. He has been missing since November. Much of the music that Amanita played was unreleased erth music provided by his label, Psybooty. His mother wanted to experience what Daniel used to experience and learn more about the music and community. It was beautiful and touching to meet this woman who in the face of tragedy has found a way to be close to her missing son. Pat, I dedicate this entire event to the memory of Daniel and to your strength. You are an inspiration to us all-

Ramiro - When we thought about the concept for this event almost a year ago now (chatting at WMC), I don't think we ever envisioned it could grow to be this amazing. Every time, the Animal Room shows everyone how to part-tae. We couldn't have this without you.

Jesiah - LUCID SOUND ROCKS!!!! I can't thank you enough for making the Animal and Insect Room BUMP. I'm speechless... I didn't have to worry about it for a minute. And I can't forget a special shout out to Tony for all his hard work moving everything.

Randy Engstrom and Kay Morrison - Can I just say that Static Factory and Space Virgins know booze?!?! From day one you took charge to make sure no one would go thirsty. Water, Rockstar, booze... it was all there being poured by an amazing staff.

Jeff Clemens - My light GOD! The House room felt like a dream. Exhibits mixed with fantastic lights. Your talent continues to amaze me.

Sean Horton - Thank you for providing a place where we could go and be dazzled. The talent lineup in the Dinosaur room was superb. Just what we needed to compliment the environment. Special thanks to Deru's set for helping me keep calm halfway through the night.

Xavier Frost - Anything that was needed, you were there. That alone would have been enough, but then you surpassed it with the amazing PURE performers. Aerialists, juggles, stiltwalkers... adding their fantastic energy to the night.

Seizure Labs - My Visual GODS! Portland is lucky to have you, as are we. I know the Insect Room is brighter than we would have liked, but your visuals set the mood and made us forget that there was any other type of light in the room.

Jodi Opitz - I never had to worry about the door and for that I owe you a HUGE thanks. Winning staff and fantastic organization.

Cindy and Betsy from the Pacific Science Center - I could write paragraphs and paragraphs about how wonderful it has been to work with both of you. From site visits to on-site staff, you have accommodated every request. I'm looking forward to the next show. Special thanks to Brian for all his help with the power and aerialist.

Kristina Kokonis - Everytime I think I'm screwed and can't get something I need, there you are. You swooped in at the last moment and took care of so much. Then... you came to the party and infuse that vivacious energy into every room. Ahh... I love you for it!!!

Cody from Rockstar - You truly are a Rockstar! We were so lucky to have such a generous sponsor. Everyone at the party should go out and buy a Rockstar just to say thanks!

Syd - You came in, saw what needed to be done, and did it. I was lucky to have you.

Chavon - I asked and you came through... what more can I say. I was blown away by how generously you gave your of your time to ensure that all the signs were up and that the merch table was taken care of.

Kristin - Out of nowhere you came in and filled a gigantic need at coat check. I am humbled by your ability to give selflessly.

Shapeshifter and Lynne - Decorating needed to be done and you were there to do. Rides to the house, supplies to be picked up and things that needed chiffon. You are always there in a pinch, my ace in the hole.

Roger - Last minute laser beauty!!!

All the volunteers and staff - THANK YOU! This event was effortless compared to the last, much of it because of you!

Jerod Knapp, Angel Ceballos and Jenna Colby - What Talent! Paintings, photographs, stories through color and light.

Wendy J - A rockin' set by a rockin' woman.

Atmos - I received an e-mail from someone thanking us for having you out. He said something that truly touched me, "we all needed that, it was very healing." I completely agree. Our community needed you and your music. Very healing...

And all the amazing people that attended. We had ticket sales from as far away as Idaho, bus loads from Portland and adventurers from Vancouver. I just hope you got as much out of it as I did.

I'm sorry if I missed anyone. I am once again humbled by the outpouring of support and encouragement from all sides. Seeing all the different types of people was the most rewarding part of the experience. I am SO excited about the next one.
