Well hello there.
As I wanted to try something new and got asked if I could try some Progressive, I just did and these two tracks were the results.

What do you think? Feedback is very much appreciated

Cheers!

Just to point out that i'm not big fan of offbeat basslines

1st track have really good atmosphere and story, but offbeat bassline like mentioned before is in most of the times big turnoff for me, but very hypnotic track

2nd track: like percussion work,nice energy buildup

Both tracks have that old school feeling and sounds, very good atmosphere and story,only remark based on my personal taste is offbeat basslines,maybe too much of tesseract and that likes lately

Thanks guys, it's always great to hear the work is appreciated.

@Xsze:
basically, I totally agree with you concerning those offbeat basslines, but in this case I found them surprisingly fitting.
They give the songs that "stomping" feel, maybe one's just gotta get into it once

The next track will be something triplet-based, I think...

Hi!

Great well produced tracks. I think that the mix is very clean, all elements in their freq area, nicely EQd, congrats!

I like the first one the most, really trippy with nice ambience.

i completely agree with Xsze. really good tracks which could've been much "better" (for me) with a different bassline. again, it's a totally personal thing. for me, i can dig a straight off-beat bassline for part of a track. but it just gets annoying really fast. i think if you closed the filter on it more and then layered another higher bassline doing something more interesting, that could be a good compromise between keeping that "stomping" feel and keeping the low end interesting.

but other than that, good stuff. you obviously know what you are doing.           https://soundcloud.com/dead-end-dance

preface: off beat basslines I am ok with

1st track: cool stuff yes you know what you are doing, I would just make more things happen prior to 2:45 though, subtle things, glitched perc, etc.

I would also make your kick a bit more interesting if you are going to stick with off beat the whole time. layer it with a hat or put a short plate reverb on it maybe. Overall cool track!

Track 2: very cool lead at 3:00. I think the off beat is very fitting. nicely done.

First of all: thanks for the feedback, guys

@shellbound:
interesting idea, I actually might try that on the first track. I've found multiple basslines at once a bit difficult to handle in the past though, so no guarantee it'll work out

@Equilizyme:
Quirky percussion, you say? I'll see what can be done You're right though, the first third of the track could use some additions to keep it interesting.

Huh, am I missing the edit button?

However, an updated version of the first track is available here:

I tried to implement both your advices. Even though I tried to keep the second bassline subtle, I'm not really sure about it.
What do you think?
