Hello brothers!
I have some money to get my 1st analog syth.
For that day I always had buy only plugins but now i want real hardware.
So... can you help me to choose?
I'm searching synth which can be good for bassline and some leads in psy-chill.
I had about 400-500 euro to get this.

And I'm thinking on one of them:
- Dreadbox erebus
- Vermona mono lancet
- Mode Machines SL-1 Synthlab
- Doepfer Dark Energy II

Which one did you will get - if you can

Or... better to get Arturia MiniBrute or Bass Station 2?
But in bass station I don't like presets option.

Nice selection of compact analog. Would go for the Doepfer or Dreadbox from that list due to semi-modular patching ability. You can also look at the ms-20 mini, little noiser than the rest but extremely versatile.

I have the Dark Energy I, and I absolutely love it. The Filter on it is fucking awesome, and I love the semi-modular set-up and the one knob, one-function design. However, I heard the Filter on the DE 2 isnt as good, its more versatile, but doesnt sound as good.

Still, I can only recommend DE!           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

what ever you do , do not buy arturia plastic ...

Vermona and Doepfer are for sure a good buy ,

i own a Dark Energy 2 and i am super happy with it , the sound of the VCO is amazing !!
the filter is very good to , but no the same as in the Dark Energy 1

DE1 is a 24db Low Pass
DE2 is a 12db multi : LP/BP/HP/Notch

another difference in between DE1 and DE2 is :
on Dark Energy 2 there is not a triangle waveform , only saw and pulse,
the switch for the saw/triangle that is present on DE1
on DE2 it select an inverted saw waveform ,, sexy to get lots of harmonics with the PWM ...

I'd go for the Dark Energy. I have DE1 and it's a little beast.

Definitely would go this over DE2. If you can get DE1 go for it.

You can aLso build a nice little 3-6u unit of eurorack for a reasonable price using brands like TipTop, Doepfer & Pittsburgh Modular.

I find modular much more inspiring than my 2 keyboard synths & I never touch my soft synths anymore.

Ok. Thank you guys so I targeting to Doepher DE2.
But... i have one more quetion... what do you thing About Bass Station 2? I was two day ago in music shop and I have some fun with it. I very like the fat sound of this unit, but i hate the stupid presets feature in this synth - but the sound is most important anyway
What do you think? Can someone compare DE2 and BS2? Maybe one of you have both of theese and can say something about it?

Try to find a DE2 to play with, difference will be quite obvious, more about what the ears hear than what that can be written down.

theres some new cool shit coming like the phenol or the new grendel grenadier, which i´d both def. take over anything mentioned here.... aside, i´d rather spend the bucks on a case and modules.

virus n nord ..... analog? nah, cmon. sure nice option and def. way to go if you´re looking for a hybrid, but i wouldnt recommend them as an analog synth, cause they´re simply not analog.

doepfer´s way cool shit though. agree on arturia, better dont buy their shit. overrated, expensive bunch of cheap ingredients.

i dont like those one osc solutions and to me this actual hype about them isnt a fair deal, which the phenol clearly underlines! if those are prefered, i´d have a look for the moog minitaur....

for that amount of money, a simple 19" case or selfbuild will do the job for a better synth than any of these preconfigured, semi modulars. you can choose the modules on your own, its upgradable, its 100% pure analog (if you wish so) and it is able to grow with your experience..... i.e. you are able to end up optimizing the system on your own..... i.e. friggin around with power supply stabilizing the osc, optimizing case, change modules according to needs etc.

sure 500€ isnt that much for modules, but well spend, worth it all times. i´d spend some time meditating about modular synths and have a look for modules n decide if this wouldnt be more fun to me...

to keep things simple i´d go for a doepfer. their stuff is solid, well engineered with a decent sound. the pittsburgh system 10.1 or system 1 (cell48) might be some great solution, never heared it though. MFB synths might be another, kraftzwerg coming to my mind, which is just slightly out of budget.... well, on all of these another 100€ ontop would do it... vermona lancet is a nice hint.

oh did i mention that i totally dig phenol? slightly out of budget, but seems worth each single penny. the grenadier seems lovely too....
