Valentine’s Day is going to be made extra sweet by the MIG crew.

Japan’s only multimedia glitch hop crew, Made in Glitch (MIG), are back on Valentine’s Day with another party to blow away anyone looking
for some of the most fresh and exciting sounds this side of the Pacific.
Following the crew’s first major event 15 storeys above Shibuya at Legato ( Check the video here ) , this time MIG are heading to the Shibuya underground at La Farbrique on Saturday, February 14.

MIG will now bring Rob Squire aka Speakerbruiser (Megasoid/Weaponshouse/Turbo Crunk),one half of Montreal/NYC live remix /production team Megasoid to Tokyo for the first time. Also known for his hip hop production under the Sixtoo moniker will hit Tokyo for the first time, just prior to Megasoid’s first release with legendary UK label Ninja Tune.
His live set combines a ton of exclusive material, live
processing/programming of music that spans the genres of southern
hiphop, dancehall and electro.

For the second major MIG event, there’s going to be a double dose of the best that Northern America has to offer with San Francisco-based producer David Wang aka Mochipet (Daly City Records) also appearing. Just as famous for his purple-dinosaur suited antics as for his glitched-out breakcore remixes, Mochipet has toured throughout America and Europe in a wide variety of underground and main stage venues sharing the stage with artists such as Coldcut, Autechre, Kid Koala, Luke Vibert,Modeselektor, Dat Politics, M.I.A, Meat Beat Manifesto, Devlin & Darko (Spank Rock), Gift of Gab, Felix Da Housecat, Carl Craig,Daedelus and edIT.

The two will join MIG founder Mattb (Bass Science) freshly back from his tour of the US where he played with some of the freshest electronic acts around including Lunice,Mofomatronix, Mochipet, Lazer Sword. Epcot & Salva, Robot Koch (from Jahcoozi, Berlin). The Tokyo-based producer also played at Low End Theory in LA with Eliot Lipp and followed this up with a set at the ST9 (sector9) afterparty.

Also, this time the MIG crew will pay homage to pure hip hop by
bringing DMC-award winning turntablist DJ KEN-ONE to the stage.
Ken started as a DJ in the mid 90s and came to prominence on the Japanese battle scene in 2000 when he took second place at the Japan DMC final in the individual section. Since leaving the battle scene behind at the turn of the century, Ken has focused on making music using decks。In his solo work he uses the turntable alongside loop pedals, samplers and effects units to create original productions, remixes and freestyle compositions. KEN-ONE has played live with, remixed and worked alongside other Japanese tablist luminaries such as Baku, Miyajima.
Much like some of them he is a rightful descendant of DJ Krush's unique sonic aesthetic and inimitable approach to the
turntable as an instrument.

MIG’s Betamaxnomates also returns to our shores after a brief stint in the UK to further beef up the bill with his unique blend of glitch and
party hip hop.
At just over two metres in height, Betamaxnomates
stands literally head and shoulders above other DJs, reaching those
places few others can - at least not without the aid of a step ladder
or some kind of adjustable reaching instrument.
The Dublin-born,
Tokyo-based music producer and DJ has been performing in Japan for
over a year, confounding dancefloors across the capital with his
quirky blend of hip hop, electro, glitch, and dubstep.
Inspired as
much by Guided By Voices as Grandmaster Flash, Betamaxnomates aims to eschew the obvious and elude the cliche, crafting sets that are sure to keep the chin-strokers and the ravers happy.

Yes the purple dinosaur finally hit Japan!
Its his 1st gig in Japan methink.

Also Rob Squire aka Megasoid aka SIXTOO aka tons of other names,he did history relasing music on NInja Tunes, ANT records (Anticon is a seminal undergound hip hop crew based in the east coast) and so on.

I had the luck to play with both of them (plus Lazer Swords) a couple of weeks ago in San Francisco and I can assure their new material is hot!
