hey guys,

as i first time heard the sample on psyshop i was very bored ...but anyway i bought it !!!

i heard the album first time and i was very disapointed ...this kind of stuff by the mic's ???

but i heard one more time and my final result is that some tracks are bad and some are good ... so the album is ok ...i be sure there are some really better albums out there ....but i dont want to say its the worse album of the year ...the production level is very high and clear !! nothing to say about ...

but for me not all of the tracks rocks ...anyway these guys are one of the best psy-trance producer out there !!!

my rating: 6.5 / 10

nice greets bye tom

1. The Creation
2. Egypt
3. Stoned Henge
4. Shivas India
5. Rock into the Future
6. Glories of Greece
7. The Mayans,Incas and Aztecs
8. Garden of Eden
9. 1001 Arabian nights

So Riktam, Bansi, Chicago and Raja are back with a 3rd album. For me, their first album is a CLASSIC (and I don't care what everyone says about it being "just another GMS project"). It's actually one of the rare "post-96 era" album that made me have a trip and also one of the rare "non-oldschool" albums that I still have pleasure in listening to it after a few years... However the 2nd album was a MAJOR dissapointment for me, it was quite forgettable and made me really wonder how much time did Raja Ram spend in the GMS studio... So will this be more like the 1st or the 2nd?

Well, it's kindof in between, but closer to "Heroes of the Imagination" than to "1200 Micrograms"
As usual, loads of 140 BPM melodies with harsh sounds and also some melodies but of which 90% can be qualified as "cheese"... and not to forget the trademark 1200 Mics "swirling noise" during breaks

That said, even if this album isn't of much value for home listening, these guys sure know how to make PARTY MUSIC!!!
Rock Into the Future is my fave track here. It has a sample of a guitar riff (probably Iron Maiden but not sure...). It reminds me of the "Acid For Nothing" concept except Acid For Nothing didn't have anything except the Dire Straits sample. This one's made as an entire coherent track. Yes, some melodies are a little cheezy but I like it!!! And I'm sure it will make a lot of people smile on the dancefloor!

The Mayans, Incas and Aztecs is a pretty nice all-rounder. It has a nice flute sample from old karate movies (I'm sure that when you'll listen to it you'll instantly recognize it ) This track is also a little less cheezy than the others here. It also has some guitars that are nicely inter-mingled with the rest of the synth sounds.

Garden of Eden is a bit slower and is a treat for those who regret the days when the mighty 303 was used I really like it when 1200 Mics slow down a bit and make some 120 BPM stuff... it's not as good as Magic Mushrooms but I like it aLOT!

1001 Arabian Nights msut be 1200 Mic's first ever DOWNTEMPO track! I think the BPM is around 90 on this one and it has a LOT of cheezy arabic music samples and also the bassline from a well-known new beat track " 101 - Rock to the Beat "... don't really like this one

Glories of Greece must be the cheeziest track EVER!! It starts with a sample from a well-known traditional greek song ("Zorba") - Anyone who's been into a greek restaurant or gathering has heard this one... It is HORRIBLE!!

Stoned Hedge and Creation are typical "Heores of the Imagination" stuff, not really my cup of tea.

Shiva's India I like more (actually I'm a sucker for indian "mystic" samples ) Also, the dynamics of the track remind me of some sort of cross between Hashish and LSD which are classics so I gather this one will work pretty well on the dancefloor as well BTW this track must also contain the stupidest sample yet (well I guess they felt the need to raise the bar even further after their first 2 albums lol): "Let's go back in a time machine to ancient India and smoke hashish before Shiva"... WTF???

Land of Pharaos brings some interesting old-school lines around minute 5:00... a bit "profanized" as is always the way with these guys but I never could say no to oldschool

Conclusion I doubt this will reach cult status like their first album... however it's a nice FUN album which will make a lot of people smile on the dancefloor!! And it's better than Heroes of Imagination
This album has barely been released and already there is LOADS of negativity pointed towards it (as always with GMS project releases...). Sure, some of the criticism is well-founded but most is just a result of the collective "anti-GMS" mentality. Just listen to the album for yourself before you juge 8/10 from me

"Let's go back in the time machine... To reach India... And smoke Hashish with Shiva...""

hands down the most cheese in a sample ever recorded. The only way to add more cheese would be to have an alien take you in the time machine to go smoke hash with shiva.
Im just glad that Raja sells some albums though, hes a bit old to be finding a new career but shit like this is embarrassing.

What I find curiously interesting is that there is so much negativity about this and that a lot of it is said to be unsurprising, ie. the ppl say that they expected the album to be not so good (to say the least), then why the hell, are you ppl buying it? I mean, there are three pages of reviews about an album almost noone expected anything from, that means that at least 3 pages worth of people bought it. Well, nothing more can be said then.
I understand ppl that say that they expected smthg to be good, bought it, and were disappointed, but what stumps me is when ppl say that they expect smthg to be bad and then buy it anyways. What? just to prove to themselves that they were right?

This sample is not cheesy, this sample is insulting.

What does cheese mean? Im new in this forum, but in the first day i found that this was one of the most used adjectives to describe certain tipe of music. Does this mean bad music or has it something to do with music that smells funny or that's good to ear while eating a pizza or something...

oh I wouldn't say that...

@amigo: "cheese" means commercial, something that was made to appeal to the masses so it could sell in high numbers. In psytrance, usually people talk about "cheeze" when there's a catchy melody that everyone likes(including people who generally DON'T like psy). That said, cheese isn't necessarily always a BAD thing, I mean if you go back to the 96 ear there were a LOT of great tracks with catchy melodies: Astral Projection - People Can Fly, Hallucinogen - LSD, Transwave - The Rezwalker, MWNN- Teleport...
Sadly enough, today's "cheese" is ONLY about finding that catchy melody and that's it... the end result is something you'll like on first 10 listens which becomes boring afterwards...

So, by that rationale, what will differ good cheese from bad cheese is nothing else but personal taste.
I'll have that in mind when reading a negative review about some kind of cheesy music.

amigo man, it's ALL a question of personal taste in the end!! Some people might find a track the best in the world while at the same time others wil find it the worst. That said, I dare you to listen to the cheese tracks from the 96 era I've mentioned and compare them to today's cheese (ie. 1200 Mics, Vibe Tribe). I'm sure you'll notice the drop in quality...

Some cheesy samples in a couple places, a bit derivative, but tons of fun fun fun! The samples are Pulitzer Prize material by comparison to the clap on X-Dream's latest, which everyone seems to love here...

If you can get past your ego and allow yourself to enjoy something that's so popular it might offend your "underground" sensibilities and need to be "different," then there's lots of full-on goodness herein.

Makes me smile in places, would probably be lots of fun on the dancefloor.

I'll say about GMS in general is that their music sounds so effortless now, the production is so spotless that I miss some of the crunchyness and humor that highlighted their earlier releases. Still well placed in my top 10 though.

This one isn't my favorite 1200 Mics, but it's better than a lot of other releases I've heard this year, especially from the full-on crowd. Chief complaint is that there's nothing terribly original going on. Most are good full-on tracks - Rock Into the Future is killer, I hope it gets some remix time.

Best enjoyed with an open heart/mind and space to dance. Highly recommended.

Peace.

a) the x.dream album is more like a concept album with the future/technology/robotics theme and therefore the vocoder stuff is brilliant. while on the other hand this really isn't a concept album even thou the boys throw in loads of "let's get stoned" samples to the tracks. imo that is.

b) according to people here this album really isn't too popular. everyone seems to dislike it while on the other hand the x.dream album for example is very popular since so many people seem to love it.           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

i personally like 1200 mics style of music...totally.. mind blasting...loved their first album...

came across their second album coz of the speed of light track...(this one track made me get hold of the entire album) and really liked the album then on.....

was soo excited when i came to know about their third release...and now..i am in a fix...i am going thru the samples..but it still aint got the 1200 mics touch to it...there is somethin missing dont have any clue what that is...all in all wont say i hate or resent the album its pretty average on the whole and most definitely not the worst album of the year..no way...

1200 mics...cmon u can do better...

Not a bad CD. I suppose everyone is a critic. I see many people prefer the "Heroes of the Imagination" album. One things for sure.. when they played live, pple rocked, the mood was good and it was one of the best parties ive been to. But thats just me, a Full-on freak!

I wouldnt give the album a negative rating.. but ill put it this way, if you LOVE full-on, then youŽll enjoy this album.
