1200 Mics - The Time Machine --- TIP WORLD

The third album from Riktam, Bansi, Raja Ram and Chicago. The cover is just like all TIP WORLD covers...
Cover: http://212.227.206.198/cgi-bin/zoom.cgi?tip1cd038_b.jpg:CDs/tip/tip1cd038.html:;

01 - The Creation
02 - Egypt
03 - Stoned Henge
04 - Shivas India
05 - Rock Into The Future
06 - Glories Of Greece
07 - The Mayans, Incas And Aztecs
08 - Garden Of Eden
09 - 1001 Arabian Nights

It's a concept album about "the different periods of human on earth". A time travel thru our history and legends.
Let's see what we have here, track by track...

01 - The Creation --> Nice opening sample for the CD: "In the begining there was nothing, God was born... So God created the heaven and the earth... And adress music and drugs for pleasure..." Nice synth melodies and a basslines. This track is already one of my favorites. Unfortunatly this is the shortest track on this CD (less than 6 minutes). Powerful dancefloor friendly track.

02 - Egypt (Land Of The Pharaohs) --> Starts slowly with synths and an egypt melody. The kick comes in around 1:35... nothing inovative up to here... Nice "Egypt melody" with voice and synths just before the break around 4:00... The music come back with a fat bassline... I like the vocoded voice and just it. Nothing exceptional.

03 - Stoned Henge --> Starts with some voices on background and around 0:40 a melody come in with some kind of viola, the kick comes in around 1:00 together with a nice basslines... At 1:50 a melody show us how it's gonna be... Around 3:00 the music is pumping the way I like it... Some little guitars with the nice melody we heard at the start. But the music does not develop as I was expecting... The guitar becomes stronger, and we have a long break around 5:00. When it comes back it's not as nice as it could be (and the guitars are not nice). I'm waiting for a remix.

04 - Shiva's India --> We are guided by a nice vocoded voice and a flute melody into this track... Uhmm, the bassline is good, reminds me of Zorba. This track really starts to sound good. A break and the sample: "Let's go back in the time machine... To reach India... And smoke Hashish with Shiva..." But again it could evolve better... Around 4:15 another break with voices... and a nice build up screaming something like: "FIRE!!!" The track is pumping again, but nothing exceptional IMO.

05 - Rock Into The Future --> This track starts with a very simple guittar riff... Must be great for DJs who don't know how to mix and like guitar tracks... At 1:40 I got surprised: the guittar is playing a nice melody. This music reminds me of Iron Maiden - Hallowed be thy Name (but worse) and another Iron Maiden song that I can't remember the name. More guitar riffs and melodies... Another 4:20 another break and the sample: "Let's go back and rock into the future!" I guess it's Chicago's voice. + Meodies, + Guittars...

06 - Glories Of Greece --> Starts with a strange melody... This track didn't catch me... I'll move to next.

07 - The Mayans, Incas And Aztecs --> Uhhmm, a nice sample to open the track, which starts with a good bassline. a voice keep saying: "Mayans, magic mushrooms". This track is really great, but a guitar appear to make me sad. Also the same basslines through all the track... But I liked the samples... They say something about crystals...

08 - Garden Of Eden --> Nice melodies in the begining. Sample: "Welcome to the Garden of Eden..." I liked the basslines... And the flute around 3:00 is very emotional... Good Job! The break is also clean and explodes in a very good way, suddenly I'm dancing! Around 4:35 the track is pumping fierce! Good track, I just wanted it to be a little more powerful after the last break. Ends with a flute melody.

09 - 1001 Arabian Nights --> Another flute melody... Slower track with nice basslines. Really liked this track, more groovy than the others, reminds me Zorba stuff. I bet some reviewers will choose this track as they favorite.

Overall Score: 6/10. After two groundbreaking concept CDs, amazing dancefloor uplifters like "High Paradise" and all those GMS bombs at BOOM Festival I was really waiting for more. It has a really good production, but it's not enough IMO. I'm sure THESE guys can do better. Worse 1200 Mics CD up to now IMO.

Buy it here and tell me your opinion:
http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/tip/tip1cd038.html

Also available as 2 LP, but without the last track...

Favorites: 1(!), 8, 9(!).
          .
...Be gentle with the earth...
...Dance like nobody's watching...
.
...I don't mind not going to Heaven, as long as they've got Coffee in Hell...

Hmm..Well i must admit that right from the previous album ppl critisized these guys of getting chessy but for some reason i still liked their stuff like acid for nothing but this time i guess i have to give in ... i didnt quite like this album, 'Chessy' is one word that describes it best.Nothing more to say abt it, just hope they go back into time and get back the magic they always had. But one things for sure that the last track on the album 1001 Arabian Nights is just a classss apart, my fav chillout track...has the slow buddha bar feel to it as well as a punch of psy in it, i guess the last track made up for what the rest of the track on the album lacked.

Didn´t like it at all. We have heard these basslines and uplifting formula those previous cd´s, this one bring nothing what we haven´t heard. IMO, it repeats itself too much, so its very booring most of time.

The Creation is really an awesome track. The Garden of Eden is also great. Dont know about the rest. It's good full on, but besides those two tracks nothing really catched my ear. Have to give it another try before posting an opinion.

jees i will try not to be too negative but wtf is this man... i cant understand how they can get so lame...

imho i think this album is shite... each and every track goes from cheese to cheesier... i think that these guys have just lost the plot... either this is makin them a shit load of money or they have gone cuckoo with an od of some copius amount of drugs...

someone please put an end to this madness.           "Like every great religion of the past we seek to find the divinity within and to express this revelation in a life of glorification and the worship of God. These ancient goals we define in the metaphor of the present—turn on, tune in, drop out."

well the reviews dont seam great, and after have listening to the samples on psyshop i have decided to not get this album.
It so sad to see TIP just going lower and lower, 1st the lame Alien Project release then Stashbag 3 and now this ???
Im really disepointed, I think TIP need some new fresh blood wich goes for a lot of other labels also of course
But i geuss some ppl, when they have something that worked they think its gonna last forever :s           Making full-on (specialy with a vb-1) is like playing FIFA in easy mode, you're always sure to win.

looking forward for the first positive review. personally i checked out the samples and didn't like what i was hearing. not that supring. tip used to be my favourite label and it seemed like they were years ahead of others. now i couldn't personally care less about them..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

Groundbreaking album!!!
Breaks the following records:
Amount of cheesier than cheese samples.
Shortest time of recording the album.
Stupidest theme of the album. Ever!

Compared to this album, the previous 1200 Mics sound like a masterpiece.

Highlights for me: The last tune which is really nice Zorba'ish tune.

Overall grade: 1.5/10
As you see, i tried to put as much effort reviewing this album as them.

Just by listening to the samples on psyshop, these conclusions struck me:
HOLY MOTHER of god, what kind of trackname is "rock into the future",it doesn´t sound so futuristic to me more like something from the 80´s , and who is torturing the guitar is my question. and about tip ,,,, alien project , 1200 mics ,im starting to see a pattern here.

Worst album this year.

How can they produce the same music over and over again for the third time? They're slowly killing of the spirit from The Mystery Of The Yeti. Seriously, there's nothing on this album I haven't heard before. It's so cheesy, I'm getting fatter the more I'm forced to listen to it.

Boring, boring, boring...!

Yet it's most selling album @ chaosunlimited and 7th at psyshop at the moment. Clearly there are people out there buying this album, but sure seems like "no one" here has bought it, which leads to the conclusion. It's either non psytrance fans who're buying this album or then it's just that people buying this album don't visit psytrance forums. Makes one wonder..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."
