I've notice that in last several months, maybe a year, here on isratrance is more and more ppl that are intresting in totaly diferent music than just a trance, mean psychedelic trance. A lot of music from progressive house, house, break, techno ... is now available in promotional section, cross dj sets, and ppl can dl all that, and to maybe find them in some music else, not only in psychedelic, and offcourse we all can share our thoughts about it ...
I like both, mean and trance, and progressive, and much more, and for all ppl that have open mind for all kinds of music, this is something 100% positive ...
just keep rocking ... c ya

Maybe I'm just speaking for myself but all that Electro stuff that I developed an interest recently in, have something in common. Creativity and originality. I'ts music that can be uplifting and unexpected.
Nice topic, btw

If it's treated with care and creativity there's no way the small minded boundaries of specific genres is going to stop me from listening and enjoying other types of music. So ye, I listen to progressive, trance, psy, goa, classical, occasionaly some metallica and an odd pop record |

Quote from Wikipedia
"A psychedelic experience is characterized by the perception of aspects of one's mind previously unknown, or by the creative exuberance of the mind liberated from its ordinary fetters."
Electro, House, Chillout etc can claim to stimulate these things just as well as brand name "psychedelic trance" - One thing we have concluded for sure, smacking the genre name "psychedelic trance" on a particular piece of music doesnt make it "psychedelic" by default.
What is what is something which is up to the individual to experience - Therefore, limiting the musical spectre used when trying to achieve a personal or collective psychedelic experience is counter-productive.
Especially when you think about this part of the quote "aspects of one's mind previously unknown", then I would say that if calling music "psychedelic" is at ALL justified, then different kinds of music should enable you to reach different previously unknown areas of your mind.
Putting even more emphasis on this, listening to the same music twice could perhaps not even be allowed in this - Since its a case of "been there, done that" - Which leads me personally to conclude that many of us are really not "true psychedelic freaks", but in fact just pretenders.
Setting this fact aside, I do think many of us opened up to music in a different way and incorporated it into our lives at different levels - This development was caused by the psychedelic experience of the virgin mind.
I think psychedelic experiences are far more rare than to be attributed to music JUST because of a genre name (As buy -> 1: Buy CD 2: Experience 1 Dose of Psychedelic - like a good you consume) - To put it in religious terms they are a miracle or gift from god (but, Im not religious).
And - Honestly - I have no problem with this pretending, since I very much enjoy it And, I see it as an immensely positive thing that we have a musicly open mind. Im sure a psychedelic experience stimulates people to have open minds.
But - Lets not kid ourselves - At best we strife for a psychedelic mindset (most of us) - But are we REALLY opening previously unknown areas of the mind everytime we listen to "psychedelic trance"? - I think not.
Best Wishes

nice post Krell...
Adding that IMHO, times have changed (v/s the 90's) as well... Boundaries are vanishing, the net phenomenon worldwide, faster connections, faster exchange of data and ideas, plus it is becoming mush easier to travel....
This is also giving lots of ravers/clubbers the opportunity and the desire to discover other cultures and musical genres...
more freedom...

I can only agree with Krell !
But i would also like to add that I have the feeling the whole "psy" thisng is totally saturated! At the moment it feels like a mass market! It feels like you are getting in a Wal*Mart and you have to pick up a product (in this case a CD/Artist etc..) among thousand others!
Moreover, this saturation of fresh and innovative ideas, bring the artists to explore and integrate elements from other music styles, which personally I am very glad!
Let's say, in the past, I was listening mainly "psy" music but after some years (10 years now) i am tottaly out! I prefer a nice Sinatra tune than an average "psy" track!
I wish there would be more "indipendent" productions in this scene!
Regards

It is a community revolving around trance music, and aimed at discussing trance music on various topics.
Since this is not a small community we have some guidelines as to what this forum deals with and how to behave in it- please read them well and respect them!

So all discussions about other music than trance are 100% offtopic and its quite alot and can only be seen as 100% negative

Unless you look to the difference between "trance music" and "trance inducing music".
If the definition is "trance inducing" - then anything repetitive could be discussed ;-)
