I never said my patches are wayyyyy better than anything out there. I never said anything about the quality of my patches at all. That is just your interpretation because I don't advocate the use of samples.
I'm done man so just don't bother anymore. Every time I try to get a reasonable point across here I'm met with a bunch of idiots who couldn't write a song if their life depended on it. I'm going to quit lowering my intelligence level by stopping this conversation. |

hugs for the samplepack! will have to do something this evening, weeding it out, renaming, filing in the library etc.
dija: i know what you mean, it's in fact fun to do own samples from scratch. recording drums is hellu fun, too bad mine's clanging that heavy when you beat it...or i've had my mate running on clobberstone dragging an iron chain behind him but using premade fx is same fun! i like to run some through some wicked plug-in, chop them up, rearrange them, tweak them further to death...you just can't say messing around with premade samples is less creative then recording them from scratch. it's just more...comfty? lazy ?

anyone who thinks using samples for making electronic music is wrong must surely get a TEC scan.
You just dissed probably 50% of the music out there (good music too) i can think of at least 2 reasons why sometimes u MUST use samples:
1: When your recording equipment cannot match the sound quality of the sampled material
2: When u wanna use sounds that u dont have access in the real world (for example many ethnic or vocal samples.
As much as i love synthesis and would like to see it much put in action (in creative ways), sampling is and will continue to be a unique and fresh aproach for creating new sounds. i would see it as a complement for synthesis. in my opinion a track with only synthesis and not samples generaly lacks something.

You pinned it perfectly piXan. That is the only acceptable time to use samples. Your number 1 and number 2. There is no reason to use FX samples.
Nothing wrong with using top notch orchestra, piano, and accoustic drum samples because its something that can't be achieved in the home studio. Or like you said ethnic vocals. |
