what does it mean? How would you show the notes on the piano roll? CAn someone put up a screen shot?
Please don't be pissed off with my question, i'm a newbie.

think of it as a grid.
if you want 1/4 means youl have 4 beats
in a bar...devide it by 2 get 1/8 it gives
you 8 beats in a bar, and 16 gives you 16.
were the bar has the same length - time
in all of the examples above... |

lets say this is the length of one bar:
without note:
----------------
now i'll make X for a note
1/1 over 2 bars for better undestanding:
X---------------X---------------
1/2 over one bar:
X-------X-------
1/4 over one bar:
X---X---X---X---
1/8 over one bar:
X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-
and so on
