A couple of days ago, I broke through 1,000,000 hits/views of my videos on youtube, which kind of blew my mind, particularly as it doesn't seem to be slowing down.... (roughly 2000 views a days)
But this sums up it better than anything
The funny thing is I am now more "famous" than sombunal of these so called "psytrance acts/DJs"......

It is a sad reflection of the way the skills and talents of artists who work with moving images quite often dont get the appreciation of the time that goes into making of them or the effort required to get a good looking visual show
Having said that I am sure Van Gough moaned about where he was getting the money to buy his next bottle of Absinthe from or before that how Leonardo couldnt afford the scaffold to get up to the Sistene chapel roof

Lack of bookings = more proof that stuff posted in this section doesn't really matter.
You have to connect with local promoters if you want to get bookings. Send demos directly to people who might actually book you rather than hoping someone just comes along and finds you. I think I said this before in a post of yours....http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound www.chilluminati.org - Midwest based psytrance group

I have been through all the major promoters....
And do you know what none of them cared, only one even bothered to get back in touch and that was the Voov back in 2007, and they offered
200 Euros for a whole night projections, which including my expenses.
I politely declined the offer.
Tbh I gave up after that, especially when I got screwed major time by people who I thought were friends, but just wanted a cheap VJ, and couldn't actually careless about me as a person. It fucking ripped the heart out of me for a while.
So all I can do is "promote" myself, and remember all the people that helped, if and when I do "make it", and those that didn't.

I'm not trying to be mean here, but if that's all it took to demotivate you, it'll be quite the uphill battle to "make it". If what you're doing now hasn't gotten you to where you want you should try something different.

I don't know how the environment is in regards to visuals where you're from, but I don't think a lot of promoters are willing to fork over a lot of money for visuals. Most people we book to do visuals are just there because it's what they enjoy doing and they just want to be contributing to the party.

I know we've had this discussion before,
But for those that haven't heard my yarn before.....
When I started out doing psychedelic parties in 1999, I never expected to earn a wage from it as such, maybe contribute to a living (as an experience, not a monetary thing). You know make friends who would invite me to stay, maybe do a little travelling from european festie to festie during the summer months, even get a holiday aboard once in a while. Well none of that happened, though it is what I hoped for....
But what I "thought and expected" would happen, is that somewhere/time along the "way" some opportunities would arise. That the graphics would help my portfolio to get a "real job", so I could take some pressure of being a starving artist, and enjoy doing the parties for their own sake.
And I haven't been waiting for opportunities to magically appear, but have been actively (though less so now, as yes I am demoralised, and can't even bring myself right at this moment to make a new graphic, let alone a whole video) trying to make things happen.
Also I have been utterly unsuccessful in getting any employment, due to suffering (or in my youth, I no longer do much now, except when I think about my situation) from mental illness for a long time between the ages of 18-24. People consider me too high risk to employ, and I get and have no help from the "state system" (forget benefits, etc..)
The whole getting a 1,000,000+ views, apart from it being something I couldn't imagine happening, is that it is a small joy, and satisfaction for me, in what has been a very hard journey. Especially when I seem to be ostracized by the "scene" (especially in the UK), and a supposing supportive psychedelic culture just isn't living upto the image we/I trip in our heads.

Enlightenment through disillusionment, as I am want to say.
People are just people. You won't find more enlightened people in this scene then in any other place. If not for making parties in my hometown I would treat psytrance only as a means of having an alternative holidays.
Anyways, congratulations! 1,000,000 views is a huge success, at least in my eyes.
